Packaging & Sustainability
Locally sourced
Our delicious meals are made with predominantly locally sourced food. We focus on the best quality products with a strong focus on animal welfare and sustainablility.
Our chicken is free range which means it has an excellent flavour. Our beef and lamb are sourced from farms with high animal welfare standards.
Vegetables are locally sourced where possible to lower our carbon footprint and ensure you get the very best nourishing food that Hawke’s Bay has to offer.

Packaging
We are phasing in new trays for all our ready meals! Our current trays are being replaced with the two new kinds of trays:
New Smoothwall Foil Trays
MICROWAVE SAFE: As long as the tray doesn't touch the sides of the microwave, meals can be heated safely in the microwave.
OVEN SAFE: Our trays are oven safe and can even be washed and re-used for your own purposes in your home.
100% RECYCLABLE: Our foil trays are fully recyclable. They are processed into ‘nuggets’ in the recycling process and then reused to manufacture new aluminium products, making them truly 100% recyclable. If you are recycling them please make sure you clean them thoroughly. They can be washed in the dishwasher.
New CPET Trays
MICROWAVE AND OVEN SAFE: These trays are dual-ovenable, meaning they're safe for both microwave and conventional oven use.
CPET is recyclable, and our new black CPET trays contain up to 70% recycled material. Ideally, CPET is recycled into new food-grade packaging, like trays.
Cardboard Sleeves
Our cardboard sleeves are 100% recyclable in the cardboard section of your home recycling.

WoolCool Insulation
We use WoolCool insulation, which is made from 100% sheep’s wool. It’s a highly sustainable and effective natural material. To dispose of it, just remove the wool from the plastic lining. The wool can go in your compost or green bin, or even straight into the garden as an organic weed mat. The plastic liner can be recycled with soft plastics at your local supermarket.

Cardboard boxes
Our cardboard boxes are 100% recyclable and are double lined for durability and insulation. They can be broken down and recycled in your home recycling.
